Kitty Lupino reached out to us because she recently lost her Mandl School pin. Kitty told us that her pin meant a great deal to her (she had it for decades) and wanted to see if she could purchase another. We sent Kitty a new pin as a gift and had a chance to catch up. Here are a few excerpts from our conversation.
Mandl School: Hi Kitty!
Kitty Lupino: Hi!
Mandl School: We hear you lost your Mandl pin.
Kitty Lupino: (Laughing) Yes. I did. I had the pin since graduation. I always wore it. That’s my school pin, I wore it all those years and I lost it.
Mandl School: We are very sorry to hear that and also honored to hear that you cherished your pin and your experience at Mandl School.
Kitty Lupino: I did. I’ve been working in the medical field for over 50 years. I still work today. I studied Medical Assisting at Mandl and worked at hospitals in New York. I then moved to Florida and continued to work in hospitals closely with doctors.
Mandl School: How important did you feel your education from Mandl School was in your career?
Kitty Lupino: Very important. Mandl helped me find jobs in the beginning and then I never had trouble finding work if I moved. I always continued to build on my career, learn new things, asking questions and gaining experience from the doctors I worked with. It always felt more than a job because I always learned more. Education is important, specialties are important and Mandl prepared me to get started and I took it from there. I wanted to give lots of things in Healthcare a try. (Laughs)
Mandl School: You’ve seen so many changes in Healthcare, do you recommend Healthcare as a career?
Kitty Lupino: Oh yes! I most definitely encourage people to get into Healthcare. We are always looking for experienced people and people who have a good education and a desire to learn more. Mandl did that for me and it has for so many.
Mandl School: Are you enjoying Florida?
Kitty Lupino: I love it. I’m a New Yorker at heart but love Florida. My husband is retired, not me. I love my job and love learning and want to continue to help others.
Mandl School: Amazing!
Kitty Lupino: And now I have a new pin! I’ll wear it proudly. Again! (Laughing)
